Never Would Have Thought

“I’m just ordinary, but it’s extraordinary that you gave to me, all the things, I never would have thought.”

I am thankful for friends that keep asking.

I mentioned to my friend Bo McGee, quite a while ago, that I wanted to catalog some songs that I have written. Last April 2023, I invited him over to listen to the songs and discuss the path forward. At first, beyond just getting the ideas captured with acoustic and vocal, I expressed that I wanted to produce “live” videos for release to Living Stones Unearthed. We settled on recording to work out parts. Whatever form the sessions took, I really wanted to work with Bo and others that I have served with in music ministry over the past few years.

As with most endeavors, I started recording with notions of who I was, who I used to be, and the purpose. Some of these impressions were confirmed, other surprises surfaced during the process. Most importantly, connections were made and deepened. As I have stated, nothing compares with creating music with others and I am grateful for all those who have supported this project with their talents and time.

“Never Would Have Thought” is the first release of a forthcoming EP March 2024.

I wrote the song some years ago in one setting while considering the mercy and amazing grace of God towards my actions and words that had hurt so many. It remains my favorite song to play live.
