Not Afraid to Sing

“My God is a Refuge.”  Psalm 91

It seems like so long ago. Uncertainty, isolation, confusion, bewilderment, and fear. Just some of the words and emotions that described, “that time” from roughly 2020 through 2022.

How did Curtis Klotz respond? Worship.

“During the 2020 pandemic, the world experienced a lot of fear, and the enemy tormented many through that fear. To me, there is no other better chapter in the Bible to turn to in a time like that. I wanted to write a song that could be sung to declare God’s promise of protection that we could sing in the midst of everything going on in the world around us.”

“Psalm 91 has been one of my favorite Psalms for a long time. It’s a great chapter to turn to when you’re tempted to feel afraid. Even though this verse isn’t in the song, my favorite line of the Psalm is the last verse, “I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” To me, that is a promise from God that not only does He want to give us salvation (most of us realize that already), but a long life here on earth to live for His glory!”

“Although I think the worst is over concerning the pandemic, I believe we will all have times in our lives where we need to declare the promises of God through scripture and through song as a way of strengthening our faith to have a greater impact in the Kingdom of God. I hope this song blesses someone.”

Verse 1

I won’t be afraid, of terrors in the night or disasters at day

Though thousands may fall on every side, He will keep me safe, He keeps me safe

Because I trust in the Lord, boldly I will declare

Chorus:

My God is a refuge, I’m safe in His hand

My God is faithful, every promise will stand

Forever and ever I will declare

My God is a refuge, my God is a refuge

Verse 2

I trust in the Lord, abiding in Him, His love covers me

Under His shadow, I find shelter, He keeps me safe, He keeps me safe

Chorus:

My God is a refuge, I’m safe in His hand

My God is faithful, every promise will stand

Forever and ever I will declare

My God is a refuge, my God is a refuge

Bridge:

I believe no evil will come near my home

For His angels protect me wherever I go

And they’re holding me up with their hands and

My God won’t ever let me go

I love singing the Word of God! The Word is how Jesus defeated the enemy! It is so very powerful. Great job defeating that spirit of fear!! Loved it❤️
