Where Have All the Giant Slayers Gone?

“Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:49 NIV

Sometimes it feels as though when the giants left this world, the giant slayers went with them. What makes that an uncomfortable thought is that when you pause and look around it’s clear that the giants never really left. They might not be around anymore in a physical manner, but in a spiritual sense, their shadows have never been larger.

The giants take form in fear, anxiety, doubt, grief, addiction, and all the other things that plague the human race. The giants have never been more apparent and should be confronted, yet we allow them to act uninterrupted in ourselves and in those around us.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

David was just a teenager when he stood across from Goliath. Short in statue and armed with a sling, stones, the experience of protecting his flock, and most importantly, his confidence in God, David stepped forward, towards the Philistine.

It didn’t end well for Goliath.

We are honored to welcome Charles Idu to Living Stones Unearthed with a new addition to the site 5 5mooth 5tones.

Charles is a Nigerian who along with his wife Sofia serve as Pastors at LOVECHURCH in the seaside town of Bournemouth in the county of Dorset, United Kingdom. As part of his calling, Charles reaches many with words from the Holy Spirit in the form of messages sent over WhatsApp. We have been moved in many ways and encouraged to go deeper with every alert, no matter what time of day they may come.

We believe his words will do the same for you.

Yes, giants still roam the earth, but we the slayers do as well.

Pick up your sling. Here are some smooth stones.
